 In Maverick Vinales, Moto3, News

ana-carrascoOn Thursday the preseason preparations of Moto3 Team Calvo finished in Jerez. After almost 15 days of testing, the riders of Team Calvo are prepared and ready for the first race which will take place in Qatar on April 7th. There have been small setbacks like the crash suffered by Maverick Viñales on Wednesday. But despite not having tested on Thursday, Maverick finished second fastest of the class.

Thursday afternoon, Viñales was operated on by Dr. Xavier Mir in the university hospital of Barcelona to reconstruct the injured ring finger of the right hand. The operation, which took 2 hours, was successful and Maverick will have no problems to be fit to give his all on his Team Calvo KTM at the Losail circuit.
His team mate Ana Carrasco has completed a great preseason and can’t wait to make her debut in the world championship. She will be the first woman to compete in the Moto3 class.

The truth is that I’m not very happy with these last test days. I was hoping to be able to go a bit quicker, but the positive thing is that, despite our problems to get the set up 100% right during these days, in the end we found a good way that will help us to improve the bike further in Qatar. It’s great that we work well together as a team and the preseason has been very positive. The first race is almost here and I can’t wait to get started. I’d like to send my best wishes to Maverick and wish him a speedy recovery so that he’s in top form for Qatar.

In Team Calvo we’re pretty satisfied with the course of the preseason. We’ve tried many different things and the best thing is that KTM really got involved a lot in this project. It’s very important to be a factory team and I believe Maverick noticed this right from day 1. The only negative point of the preseason is Maverick’s crash. It’s a real shame, but the injuries were not that severe, the surgery was a success and he’ll be at 100% for Qatar.
Ana has surprised us all tremendously and she’s posted a few times that we ourselves didn’t expect. She’s made great progress and now she needs to take it step by step to continue growing.
