Team Calvo managed a great result in the second Moto3 race of this season with Maverick Viñales crossing the line in second place.

The race, originally planned for 18 laps, was red-flagged after a heavy crash by Jasper Iwema. At that moment, Viñales was racing in second. But as the necessary 2 thirds of the laps had not been completed, the race had to be restarted for 5 laps. Maverick made a mistake in the first lap, but was able to make a comeback and finished in second place. This is a great result that moves him into 3rd place of the championship, only one point behind the leaders.

Ana Carrasco rode great and was able to make up a lot of ground in the first part when she moved from 26th to 18th position, but in the last lap she went off the track and lost a couple of places. But even so, this is a great result in only her second championship race and with the help of Team Calvo she’ll get closer every time to scoring points.

In the first part I thought the race had finished and I felt it was a good result with those little problems we had yesterday. In the fight with Rins I gave everything I could and second place was good. For the second part of the race I had a new tyre and I wanted to escape the others, but I made a mistake. I felt very strong and the bike went great so I had to gamble. The team did an awesome job and we’re doing things right, the championship isn’t won in two races.

In the end I was a bit angry because in the last lap there was contact with another rider and I went off track. I was 16th and so close to the points, but these things happen in racing. Overall I’m happy with the weekend because it’s been difficult. It was a new circuit and it was hard work, but I finished another race and we’ve learned a lot. The team has done a great job and I believe in Jerez we can make another step forward.

We’re very happy with the two races, but overall the second one over 5 laps was a lot more intense. Mack went wide in the first lap but was able to recover and finished second. He showed his claws and it’s been spectacular. With Ana we have to be satisfied, because even though the race didn’t end the way she would have wanted, she had a great race and continues to gain experience in the championship.
