It’s bad news for Mahindra with Efren Vazquez is out of Sunday’s race after a spill this afternoon left him with a broken right collarbone. The 26-year-old Spaniard is in hospital at Le Mans, desperately disappointed. “He will have surgery tonight or tomorrow morning, and we are hoping he will be fit for Mugello in two weeks,” said Mufaddal Choonia, Mahindra Racing CEO.

The battle however continues at Le Mans for Efren’s teammate Miguel Oliveira – 14th in the afternoon session. Hard work is on the cards for tonight, to get everything up to scratch for important qualifying tomorrow afternoon.

“The first practice started with some rain, so the team and I decided not to risk it on the early stages,” said Miguel, “When I went out to the track I had a problem with the electronics, which made me go back to the box and limited me to only five laps. For the second free practice, the objective was to understand the bike on this track and, when I was about to try a fast lap, it started to rain. Now we have to work with the data we gathered and find a setting that works in our favour.”
