Aleix Espargaro optimistic ahead of Sachsenring
Over the next two weeks the MotoGP riders face two of the shortest circuits on the calendar.
Sachsenring and Laguna Seca both measure less than 4 km and both are tight and twisty – more like go-kart circuits then MotoGP – but they both certainly have their intrigue. Sachsenring is Dani Pedrosa territory, the Spanish rider having won there for the past three seasons. Pedrosa is in his best form and continues to lead at the top of the championship, although Jorge Lorenzo’s heroics at Assen proved that he is not ready to give up on his title just yet.
With two races remaining before the summer break Aleix Espargaro has won all seven races of the season so far in the CRT category. Sachsenring is not one of his favourite circuits but his form in 2013 means that he can continue to dominate the CRT battle and once again try to fight with the official prototypes.
“So far the first half of the season has been excellent for us, we have started the season very well and gradually improved our performance. We’re dominating in CRT and the most important thing is that we are improving every time and closing the gap to the official prototypes. We are very happy with our performance and results, every day we improve a little bit more. Sachsening is a circuit that I don’t particularly like. Last year I struggled to adapt, mainly because it is slow and I prefer fast circuits. Anyway this year the situation is different and everything is working perfectly on the basis of hard work. In Germany we will work hard again like we do at every race, our bike is better this year, easier to ride, and that could be an advantage for us at such a difficult circuit.”
