Another podium for Maverick Viñales, Ana Carrasco takes hard-fought 24th
After all the setup problems that Maverick Viñales has had this weekend, he had a great race and fought for the victory until the end.
Together with his technicians he managed to improve the feeling on the bike during warm up this morning and he battled with Rins and Salom until the chequered flag. Maverick crossed the line 2 tenths behind the first and with a gap of 16 thousands to the second.
Ana Carrasco spent the whole race battling with a group of six riders and in the end she crossed the line in 24th position. The tyres ended up looking quite bad on the left side, but this is perfectly normal as 10 out of 13 corners are left handers.

I thought I had got second place and when I saw that I didn’t I was a bit angry, mostly for the team. But we have to be positive because it was a tough weekend, and the team and myself have been supporting each other, we got our heads down and we made it through. With how the weekend had gone, I didn’t expect to be up front for the whole race. We have to improve the initial setup but this third place is a good result.

I had a good start but got caught out and blocked on the breaks and found myself last. After that I started to fight back and when I positioned myself in the lead of that group, the grip of the rear tyre had suffered a lot and in the end Loi overtook me. This race went well for me, we’ve made many improvements, and even though I expected it to be a long race with 27 laps, it felt really short in the end. I go into the summer break with a good feeling, we finished another race and gained more experience.

We’re happy because this weekend has been harder than normal and we struggled more to find our rhythm, therefore a podium finish is something very positive. With regards to the championship it’s very important to have another podium under our belt, but in the next races we have to try and improve the initial setup to get a few more wins. Ana has been fighting with a lot of other riders and this will have been another very important learning curve for her. She has to continue in this way, she’s doing great so far.
