The Valencian ASPAR team will provide a further opportunity to a World Championship rider with great potential; Jordi Torres will remain as teammate to Nico Terol and both riders will aim for the Moto2 title next season

Next year will see Jordi Torres competing for a fourth campaign and a second complete season with the MAPFRE Aspar Team. This year has seen Torres making the adaptation to become a full time World Championship rider. With his hard working approach he has been able to make an impression at Grand Prix level with positive results such as those at Jerez (7th), Italy (6th) and Holland (9th), in addition to his superb victory at Sachsenring, just before the summer break.

The rider from Rubí has continually developed since joining the MAPFRE Aspar Team, pushed on by the technical team who motivate him to work even harder every day. This relationship has helped him to become one of the form riders in the World Championship and one of the competitors with most potential talent. Therefore, the Valencian team wanted to give him further opportunities to continue in a project which aims for maximum results.

Nico Terol also remains involved in the same project. The Valencian rider will ride for a fifth season with the MAPFRE Aspar Team and after some great results already this season (victory at Austin and 2nd at Mugello) he will be ready for a title assault. With this line-up of Jordi Torres and Nico Terol the MAPFRE Aspar Team will aim for World Championship honours in 2014.

Jordi Torres:
“It was a clear objective for me to stay with the MAPFRE Aspar Team. I’m really happy about this as we work hard together and that means we are constantly developing, I’m very comfortable here. The deciding factor when I signed to stay was the technical staff, the people involved at a technical level. The understanding I have with the mechanics and the atmosphere in our team helps us to improve every day. My crew chief has great knowledge so I’m learning a lot. Also the MAPFRE Aspar Team set-up is really professional. My aim is to keep improving and get more experience with the bike. I want to thank the team and Jorge for giving me this new opportunity.”

Jorge Martínez ‘Aspar’:
“We are really pleased that we’ll have Jordi with us again next season. He was Spanish champion and European champion in recent seasons and has taken a big step forward in the World Championship this year. With the potential he is showing I’m sure that we will see him fighting for the podium on a regular basis next year and he could fight for the Moto2 title. We have seen his winning potential in races this year. Obviously he won at Sachsenring and has shown great pace at other rounds too. The technical team work closely with him every day and the bike is developing. There are still areas for improvement but we are on the right path. With Jordi Torres and Nico Terol as our two riders next year we should be amongst the title candidates right from the start.”
