Albert Arenas 1st in Le Mans
The Angel Nieto Team took a tremendous one-two finish at the Moto3 French Grand Prix, held at the Le Mans circuit, where Ángel Nieto himself achieved his last victory in the 80cc World Championship in 1985. Albert Arenas claimed his first every Grand Prix win, and was joined on the podium by teammate Andrea Migno in second. In a wild race, for which the pair started from the second and third row, respectively, they fought for victory in a group of a dozen riders.
With just a couple of laps remaining, Migno was seventh and Arenas was eighth. From there, a series of incidents changed the situation in the race: A fall for Enea Bastianini took him out of the equation and made things difficult for Jakub Kornfeil, and later another crash involving Jorge Martín and Marco Bezzecchi left Arenas second and Migno third when the chequered flag fell. However, a penalty handed to Fabio di Giannantonio awarded the one-two to the Ángel Nieto Team. Andrea Migno is now fifth in the overall standings, 18 points behind the series leader, whilst Albert Arenas moves up to twelfth place.

“It’s incredible. I started from a good position and we had a good pace throughout the weekend. I did not expect this result, as I was battling in the front group. It was easy to make a mistake and I had to be very focused, but I managed to get into a good spot on the last lap. Crossing the line second was incredible, but when we got to parc fermé saw that we had been promoted to first it was sensational. We had a difficult start to the season, with the injury I had at Qatar, and although we had pace, it was always tough for us to get on a roll. We have got a good reward here, and I want to thank the team for their work. In addition, being able to obtain a victory here, where Ángel Nieto got his last win, makes everything even more special.”
