The 25-lap seventh race of the Moto2 World Championship took place on Sunday at Misano. Red Bull KTM Ajo and Tetsuta Nagashima experienced an unexpected end to the San Marino Grand Prix, as on the final lap the Japanese rider crashed out when in eighth place. Nagashima had shown great race pace, catching and passing rivals steadily.

Due to penalties and injuries for other competitors, Tetsuta Nagashima started the contest from seventh on the grid. However, on the first corner the Japanese lost several places and the leading group broke away from him. The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 rider rode alone for a spell, gradually passing isolated other rivals to move up into eighth. Unfortunately, a crash at Turn 3 of the last lap prevented him from finishing the race.

After the San Marino Grand Prix, Tetsuta Nagashima occupies 5th position in the Moto2 World Championship with 68 points. Jorge Martin, who missed the GP, is 4th with 79. The next round for Red Bull KTM Ajo is next week at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, where the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix takes place from September 18-20th.

Tetsuta Nagashima:

“I want to apologise to the team and to the fans, because on the last lap I made a small mistake and I couldn’t avoid a crash. However, I am happy with the pace that we showed in the race today, as throughout this GP I never had a good feeling. The positive is that next week we have another opportunity here at Misano, where we will work hard to improve and ride at the front.”
